Blackwell Burke P.A. was a proud sponsor of the Reimagining Justice Conference organized by the Minnesota Justice Research Center (MJRC), which was recently hosted by Target. This important annual event brings together thought leaders and criminal justice stakeholders from across the Midwest to reimagine and transform our criminal justice system.
Target’s General Counsel, Don Liu, kicked off the event and discussed Target’s ongoing commitment to eliminate racial inequality in the criminal justice system. Governor Tim Walz also spoke at the event, sharing with passion, the measures his administration is taking along the same lines.
Through research, education, and policy development, the MJRC provides the Minnesota community the information and tools needed to create a criminal justice system that aligns with our commonly-held values.
“For Blackwell Burke, diversity is a leadership imperative. We celebrate the advancement of lawyers of color and that is why it is important for us to sponsor uplifting events such as these,” said Spiwe L. Jefferson, an attorney at the Firm who attended the conference. Spiwe is past president of the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers (MABL) and began her legal career as a criminal defense lawyer.
Blackwell Burke is proud to support the Reimagining Justice Conference and passionate about supporting organizations that make a difference in our community and in the world.
